Recently, Aida Cruises of Germany announced that it has signed an LNG supply agreement with Shell to supply LNG fuel for two LNG dual fuel powered cruise ships "AIDAprima" and "AIDAperla".

Under the contract, Shell will become the exclusive strategic partner of Aida Cruises, providing LNG fueling services at all ports operated by the ship. The ports currently being prepared include Hamburg, Southampton, Le Havre, Rotterdam and Zeebrügge, which used to transport LNG fuel to trucks by truck.
Maarten Wetselaar, president of the Royal Dutch Shell Integrated Gas Business, said, “A ship carrying 7,000-8,000 passengers uses the same amount of fuel as a small city with 30,000 people.”
It is reported that the "AIDAprima" ship serviced by the agreement was built by Mitsubishi Heavy Industries of Japan, delivered in March this year, arrived in Hamburg on April 21, will open the first regular sailing from Hamburg on April 30, and in Hamburg on May 7 Hold a formal naming ceremony. The ship has an 18-story deck with a total length of 300 meters, a width of 37.6 meters and a total of 125,000 tons. It can accommodate 3,300 passengers and 900 crew members with a maximum speed of 21.5 knots. Its sister ship "AIDAperla" is still being built in Mitsubishi and is expected to be delivered in 2017.
