ElectriPlastCorp. and Delphi Motors will jointly develop light wire and cable systems for the automotive industry that are expected to replace the standard copper wires currently used in the industry.

ElectriPlast has developed a conductive composite using polybutylene terephthalate (PBT) and nickel-plated carbon fiber. The company is affiliated with Integral Technologies Inc. in Pennsylvania.

Delphi, Inc., headquartered in Troy, Michigan, is a large automotive supplier whose products include connectors for injection molding and other plastic components .

The co-development agreement was announced on June 25, 2013, and said that both parties will jointly develop a lighter, more cost-effective material to replace the copper braided wire.

Both companies had previously developed lightweight alternatives. Delphi introduced an aluminum-based wire and Integral's ElectriPlast composites were used on Fisker's Karma electric vehicle.

The Karma car stopped production in 2012.

In addition, Integral also signed an agreement with Seoul-based HanwhaL&C to sell and distribute its conductive plastics in South Korea, China, Taiwan and Japan. Hanwha received exclusive sales rights in the Korean market. Hanwha mainly produces automotive interior and exterior plastic parts.
