General requirements for the freezing point of the diesel engine should be lower than the current local low temperature of 7-10 °C.

Second, start the fire with an open flame

Where the temperature is too low, an open flame can be used to help start the machine, but the air filter must not be removed. If the cooling water is discharged prematurely, the body suddenly suffers sudden shrinkage and cracks when it is exposed to cold air. When the water is drained, the residual water in the body should be completely discharged to prevent the ice from expanding and the body can burst. Because antifreeze not only plays a cooling role, but also protects the diesel engine.

Fourth, the selection of lubricants

In winter, oil with a low freezing point should be used, and the temperature of the oil can be increased by using a method of warming the outside bath. It is not recommended to use an open flame so as not to deteriorate or even burn the oil in the oil pan. Lubrication performance is reduced or completely lost, thereby aggravating machine wear.

Fifth, start method

In the winter, it is conditional to equip the generator with a water jacket heater so that the machine can maintain a certain “body temperature” and can easily be operated at any time. Some operators are able to quickly start the diesel generator set, and often use the non-normal start method of waterless start (first start, then add cooling water). This practice can cause serious damage to the machine and should be prohibited. The correct method of preheating is as follows: first heat insulation is covered on the water tank, open the drain valve, and continuously inject 60-70°C clean soft water into the water tank, touch the water discharge valve with hand to feel hot, then close the drain valve, Then start again.

In a diesel engine that is on fire soon, due to the low temperature of the engine body and the large viscosity of the engine oil, it is difficult for the engine oil to fill the moving friction surface and cause serious machine wear.
