On the morning of Saturday morning in Beijing time, the US Consumer Product Safety Commission said on Friday that HP was recalling 54,000 lithium batteries for HP and Compaq laptops due to fire hazards.

These batteries generate too much heat and are prone to fire and burning. Hewlett-Packard recalled 70,000 batteries in May 2009, but has continued to receive more reports on batteries since then.

HP fell 55 cents on Friday to $46.03, a drop of 1.18%.
