Rolls-Royce will introduce new MTU16V 8000 engine

Rolls-Royce will showcase its MTU drive and propulsion solutions for military and warships at NAVDEX 2017, the 4th Middle East (Abu Dhabi) International Maritime Defence Exhibition and IDEX 2017 13th Middle East (Abu Dhabi) International Defence Exhibition. The two exhibitions will be held simultaneously in Abu Dhabi on February 19-23. These two exhibitions will represent the largest defense technology exhibition in the Middle East and North Africa. Rolls-Royce will fully demonstrate its MTU brand drive and propulsion solutions – from ultra-modern armored vehicles to its recently developed government-dominant large-vehicle main propulsion engine.

In terms of marine engines, Rolls-Royce will introduce its new 8000 series 16V engine. With an output of up to 8,000 kW, the engine will expand MTU's engine portfolio. The engine is not only suitable for warships, but also for yachts and ferries. The 8000 Series engine is a well-known engine equipped with common rail fuel injection and electronic engine management to reduce total operating costs, increase power density and infinitely low load operation – a significant advantage for government vessels. The 8000 series engine is the best-selling engine for this application.

It is reported that Rolls-Royce will also exhibit an MTU brand 4000 series diesel engine that meets IMO III and EPA Tier 4 emission standards. The diesel engine, called the 4000 M05, is innovative in turbocharging, combustion and fuel injection, and its newly developed SCR system will play an active role in meeting stringent emission regulations. MTU's advancement and SCR exhaust aftertreatment integration solutions will provide users with an optimal solution for IMO Tier III and EPA Tier 4 solutions.
