Smith Test Releases New High-Speed ​​Package Scanner

Recently, Smiths Detection recently released a new generation of high-speed scanners. This product was developed jointly with Analogic Corporation and used for scanning airport baggage for entrapped explosives.

The product's revolutionary system leverages Smiths Detection's expertise in multi-energy x-ray technology and Analogic's expertise in 3D computed tomography (CT). In addition, it meets the requirements of the European Civil Aviation Federation (ECAC) and the United States Transportation Security Administration (TSA) for checked baggage, thereby providing support for global efforts to standardize security scanning procedures and processes.

The channel size of the new system of this product makes it possible to scan large objects through the automatic queuing system. The ability to maximize detection and throughput to help meet increasingly stringent security requirements can also be easily integrated into advanced baggage handling systems.

The product's comprehensive imaging technology scans 1800 bags per hour and conveyor belts deliver 0.5 meters per second. Currently being tested by international regulatory agencies, its images and details were announced at an investor day event in London.
