Jinan Shengquan Group Co., Ltd. broke through the cost problem of producing biomass ethanol from raw materials. The results of a three-year pilot test showed that cellulosic ethanol production can ensure a certain profit level, and the next step will be to achieve commercial production. At present, the company's bio-refinery integration project including 20,000 tons/year of cellulose ethanol is under construction, and the first phase of the project will be put into production in July. This is the information the reporter obtained from Shengquan Group yesterday.

The use of biomass feedstock for the production of cellulosic ethanol is too costly to achieve commercial large-scale production, which is a difficult problem for the high value-added use of agricultural waste in many countries. Relevant person in charge of the Shengquan Group told the reporter that plant stalks mainly consist of three components: hemicellulose, cellulose, and lignin. It could not be commercialized before because only cellulose in straw was used to make ethanol, and other components of plant straw were used. Unable to extract and use, resulting in excessive production costs of cellulosic ethanol. Through many years of scientific and technological innovation, Shengquan Group has achieved a major technological breakthrough, effectively extracting and utilizing the three major components of straw, and can produce xylose, furfural, lignin, cellulosic ethanol or pulp at low cost and high yields. Dissolving pulp and other series of products, the remaining residue can also be made of organic fertilizers and biogas.

This way of using the plant stalks to eat dried squeezing nets increases the value of the stalks by 3-5 times compared with the original, dilutes the production cost of cellulosic ethanol, and breaks the cost bottleneck that restricts its development.

According to reports, the Shengquan Group has developed a wide range of raw materials for biomass utilization, including corn stalks, corn husks, bamboo, soya straw, cotton stalks, and bark. raw material. The bio-refinery integration project to be put into production in July is mainly based on corn cobs. In addition, Shengquan Group plans to build a production line with a raw material utilization capacity of 500,000 tons/year in Inner Mongolia.

In another development, the enzyme preparation used in this project was provided by Novozymes, and both parties hope to deepen cooperation in the future and accelerate the industrialization of cellulose resources. Shengquan Group has long focused on the research, development and comprehensive utilization of various types of plant stalks. The production and sales volume of its furan resin for casting has been ranked first in the world, and the scale of phenolic resin-based polymer materials ranks among the top five in the world.
