Body length

The length of the vehicle body is defined as the distance between the two points from the most protruding position of the front bumper of the car to the most protruding position of the rear bumper. Therefore, after some European cars are sold to the North American market and replaced with US-style bumpers, body length data will increase due to the increase in the number of bars.

The distance from the most protruding part of the front bumper to the center of the front wheel is called the front suspension. Generally, the front suspension of the front-wheel drive vehicle will be longer than that of the rear-wheel drive vehicle of the same level, and the rear-wheel drive vehicle that emphasizes the sportiness is usually in front. Hanging is very short, such as the Lexus IS series. Similarly, the distance from the center of the rear wheel to the most protruding part of the rear bumper is called the rear suspension. Except for models with large bumper or rear engine, vehicles with longer rear suspension will have larger trunk space. This is often the case in premium luxury RVs.

Body width

The vehicle width data of most models is the distance between the left and right most protruding positions of the vehicle body, but does not include the width of the left and right rearview mirrors, that is, the width of the rearview mirror after folding.

Although the vehicle body with a large body length and width can obtain a relatively large space inside the vehicle, it provides passengers with better ride comfort, but reduces the driving flexibility in narrow roadways.

Body height

The height of the car is from the ground up to the top of the car body, but does not include the length of the antenna.

Body size also includes interior space dimensions

The height of the car will affect the head room and seating posture of the seat. Large head space is not easy to have a sense of oppression; slightly sitting position is more suitable for long rides. In recent years, SUVs, VANs and other high-profile models have become popular. Higher interior heights are beneficial to the occupant's activities in the car; however, excessively high body weights are unfavorable for vehicles entering and leaving underground parking lots. In sports cars that emphasize sports, in order to improve cornering stability, the body height is usually lower.
