ExxonMobil said that the company has opened a new ethylene cracker in Singapore, which will serve the growing Asian petrochemical market. The ethylene cracker is part of the company's Singapore expansion plan. ExxonMobil plans to invest billions of dollars in Singapore to add 2.6 million tons of petrochemical capacity per year, including the construction of two new polyethylene plants and one polypropylene plant. A metallocene elastomer device, a set of oxygenated ethanol devices, and an aromatics expansion project began operations at the end of last year. Matthew Aguiar, general manager of ExxonMobil’s Asia-Pacific division, said: “The expansion of production capacity will make the company easier in terms of raw material supply, while consolidating our position in Asia so as to better serve the markets in China, India and other regions.
