According to a report from Foreign Power, Navistar plans to close its Workhorse custom chassis business in order to reduce costs.

Last autumn, Navistar began the integration of its Workhorse and Monaco RV business, and announced plans to close the Workhorse chassis plant. The restructuring costs that Navistar has spent so far have reached US$10 million.

Steve Schrier, Navistar Corporate Communications Manager, said that after the company has completed the delivery of the current orders, it will no longer produce chassis for the car, but the company will continue to provide Workhorse chassis with warranty and spare parts replacement services for dealers and customers.

Navistar will complete the layoffs by the end of this year, and its cost for dismissing employees will be as much as $40 million to $60 million.
