Satellite technology for maritime navigation can be traced back to the first generation of satellite navigation system TRANSIT in the 1960s, but this satellite navigation system was originally designed to serve the polar regions and cannot be continuously navigated. The time interval of positioning varies with latitude. In the north and south latitudes above 70 degrees, the average positioning interval is no more than 30 minutes, but it takes 90 minutes near the equator. The second and third generation TRANSIT satellites NAVARS and OSCARS launched in the 1980s make up for this deficiency, but still need 10 to 15 minutes. In addition, the multi-servo speed measurement technology is also difficult to improve the positioning accuracy (need to know the speed of the ship accurately), mainly used for 2D navigation.

The emergence of GPS system overcomes the limitations of TRANSIT system, not only high precision, continuous navigation, strong anti-interference ability, but also provides seven-dimensional space-time position and velocity information. In the initial experimental navigation equipment test, GPS demonstrated its ability to replace TRANSIT and subgrade radio navigation systems, playing an epoch-making role in navigation. Today it is difficult to imagine which ship is not equipped with GPS navigation systems and equipment, and navigation applications have become the largest users of GPS navigation applications, which is difficult for users in any other field.

Dongzheng Technology uses the Beidou system, Shiguang digital broadcasting satellite and corresponding network communication equipment to form a dedicated communication network for the user monitoring management center and shipborne terminals. It utilizes a wide coverage of satellite communication resources, terrestrial transmission networks and fully functional GIS. Software and hardware platforms, and built in conjunction with GPS systems. By providing the ship with the corresponding satellite communication terminal (with GPS positioning module) and at the same time setting up the monitoring and management center, the ship realizes real-time position monitoring, short text communication, command dispatch and safety management information broadcast.
