Edwards Group Inc. (Nasdaq: EVAC), the world's leading manufacturer of high-precision vacuum products and exhaust gas treatment systems and a leading supplier of value-added services, announced today the UMC (NYSE: UMC/Taiwan) Stock Exchange code: 2303) A fund has been received from the National Environment Agency of Singapore. The GREET incentive fund was issued because UMC used Edwards' environmentally friendly iXL120 dry vacuum pump.

As part of the long-term relationship between the two parties, Edwards and UMC Singapore Branch applied for this fund. Singapore's National Environment Agency (NEA) approved this fund under the Energy Efficiency Technology Fund Project (GREET). The fund makes the Edwards iXL120 the first dry vacuum pump to be recognized for its environmental characteristics.


The iXL120 replaces the older generation of Edwards pumps and will reduce operating costs by reducing energy consumption and maintenance requirements. The selection process includes competitive evaluation of pumps from various suppliers.


“As a responsible corporate citizen, UMC continues to update its facilities to achieve greener, more sustainable manufacturing processes,” said Johnson Liu, director of manufacturing operations at UMC's Fab 12i manufacturing facility in Singapore. “It is expected that replacing with Edwards iXL120 will not only make Fab The 12i manufacturing plant will be more environmentally friendly and will also help us reduce operating costs."


The small, low-power, iXL120 dry vacuum pump is one of the smallest and lightest pumps for load interlocking and cleaning process applications. The pump consumes 95% less power in green mode, helping to reduce the cost of ownership and environmental impact. The pump has a high pumping rate and has the fastest pumping speed in its class. Its low energy consumption, small size and minimum maintenance requirements help reduce the total cost of ownership.
