On the morning of August 15, the national team of quality engineering experts conducted a two-day review of the construction of the steam flooding surface of the Qi 40 block in Liaohe Oilfield. The expert group believes that after the Qiguo 40 steam flooding ground construction project has been operating for 4 years, the operating conditions of each unit are good, and the design and specification standards have been met. This indicates that PetroChina has made a historic breakthrough in the development of heavy oil scale in Liaohe Oilfield, and has become the first oil field in the world to realize industrial production of medium and deep steam flooding.
The principle of steam flooding technology is the use of high-temperature and high-pressure steam to form a temperature field and an oil-gas passage in the ground, enabling the smooth development of oil and gas resources.
The Qi 40 steam flooding project is a key project for the conversion of heavy oil in Liaohe Oilfield and is also a key pilot project of CNPC. In 1995, Liaohe Oilfield began the research and program development of the steam flooding of Qi 40 block. The steam flooding test was conducted in 1998 and the industrialization test began in 2006. At present, Liaohe Oilfield has developed a series of technologies that can meet the requirements for the development of steam flooding in medium and deep heavy oil reservoirs.
PetroChina Liaohe Oilfield is China's third largest oil field and the country's largest heavy oil and high-condensation oil production base. Liaohe Oilfield has identified 18 blocks or units suitable for steam flooding through scientific evaluation, covering a total of 280 million tons of geological reserves.
China National Petroleum Corporation (hereinafter referred to as China National Petroleum Corporation) announced on its website on August 18th that the construction of the steam flooding surface of the Qi 40 Block in the Liaohe Oilfield of PetroChina had been reviewed, marking the first time in the world that China National Petroleum has achieved industrial production of steam flooding in the world.
