Every time invited to speak safe driving, when interacting with the audience, one question often asked: What is the lifespan of a tire? In my personal experience, during the 23 years of training the car, there were 2 vehicles that had traveled more than 100,000 kilometers without tire replacement. The audience shouted: Why is my tire 20,000 kilometers on the ground? At first, I thought it was driving. Because different driving styles can have different effects on the protection or damage of the tires. Anyone who has ever played a car knows that one of the secrets of defeating opponents on the track is to take care of the tires. The driver should protect the tires as much as possible. Although racing cars cannot be compared with civilian tyres, there is no doubt that incorrect driving can shorten the life of tyres.

However, after watching the CCTV 3.15 evening party last night, I think this recognition needs to be revised. Originally, manufacturers could change their raw material composition in response to the needs of their own interests, regardless of the interests of consumers, resulting in a decrease in tire performance. Such a tire is mounted on a car. When it is small, it is not wearable. When 100,000 kilometers is delusional, 5, 60,000 kilometers will have to be replaced. This will make consumers spend more money. To the big, it can cause explosion. The occurrence of a birth accident threatens the lives of consumers. I have seen an unverified number of data. 46% of traffic accidents on China's highways were caused by tire failures, of which about 70% occurred in tire explosions.

In fact, as early as 2009, the General Administration of Quality Supervision of the People's Republic of China (CNSQ) criticized the two tire production companies for the “bulging door” incident of Kumho and Hankook Tire. Two years later, Kumho's use of back-grade rubber was over-exposure despite its technical standards. The combination of the two things proves that such a company cannot be trusted and it is also embarrassing. Because the tire prices of the two companies are slightly cheaper, many domestic auto manufacturers such as Beijing Hyundai, Brilliance BMW, Changan Ford, FAW-Volkswagen, Shanghai GM, Dongfeng Peugeot and Dongfeng Citroen, etc., have adopted Jin Lake tires. As for the use of Hankook Tire manufacturers more, almost covered the vast majority of domestic car manufacturers.

The rubber of the tire can not meet the design requirements, and the surface can not be seen naturally. Only when it is used for some time, the failures such as excessive wear and breakage of the connection can be revealed. At this time, if a car owner goes to a 4S shop and complains, he or she often can receive such a reply: due to improper use, it is not a quality issue. In fact, only the side of the tire often rubs against hard objects, often in an overloaded state, or often loses gas, which can cause early damage to the tire. Such practices as Kumho Tire are rather secretive, but they can only be consumers. Because, even if consumers suspect that there is a problem with the quality of the tire, not only can't prove it, but there is no support for related legal provisions.

This time, the misdeeds have been exposed and naturally it is a good thing. However, solving this problem is not a breeze. First, if car manufacturers want to use cheaper tires and continue to use such tires, what should consumers do? Do not buy this company's car? Look at the list of Kumho and Hankook customers. You will understand that there is no room for picking. Second, is the problem of cutting corners and materials monotonous or universal? I have used a set of tyres produced by a European brand in the northeast of China for a hundred years and I still suffer from it. Thirdly, I wrote in the manuscript of the 3.15 special issue of Chexun.com to protect consumer interests and rely on appeals and denunciations can only play a temporary role. If you want to cure, you must have a system, and along with the system, you must have Supervision, implementation mechanism. However, this link is exactly the weakest in our country.

First, the national quality standards for tires lag behind. The current implementation of the national standards for tires was announced 14 years ago. At that time, there were many highways in China and there are now many. Along with the popularization of automobiles and the improvement of highways, they should improve the technical standards of automobiles as the speed of trains continues to increase. Raising technical standards should not be limited to exhaust emissions but should also include tires. For example, the standards for durability, speed, and aging of tires should be gradually improved along with the progress of the automobile industry and the continuous improvement of the road conditions.

Second, the national consumer protection laws are too weak. The three-guarantee car is difficult to produce for six years. The recall of the car is void and the consumer protection of car tires is more like a fantasy. In 2010, Goodyear Tire was recalled for leaks and losses. The US market recalled 11994 tires. Kumho Tires, which were exposed on the evening of March 15th last night, also had two large-scale recalls in the United States in 2004 and 2006. In China, so far, there has been no recall of tires. We cannot blame manufacturers for their lack of "moral blood", nor can they criticize manufacturers for their inconvenience and flatteringness. In fact, this is due to the lack of management of the Chinese government.

If these problems are not solved, only the manufacturers will be held accountable and it will be impossible to play a role in eradicating the problem. Whenever there is a tire bulging, cracking, abnormal wear, etc., the response we received will still be that the tire is a fragile item, which is caused by improper use.
