Recently, the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers released sales figures for September. Among them, a total of 2,342,600 passenger cars were sold, which represented a high growth of 24.92% month-on-month, an increase of 3.27% from the same period of last year. As of the end of September, the first three quarters of the year Passenger cars sold a total of 17,150,500 vehicles, an increase of 2.38% over the same period last year.

Although the growth rate is a slight increase, but with the continuous entry of new brands, sales data have been dispersed, leading to a decline in the sales volume of some auto companies. The 2017 calendar has turned 3/4, and there are still a number of car companies that have not reached 75% of their annual sales target.

Three joint ventures completed 70%

In addition to the overall data released by the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers, recent auto companies have also publicly disclosed sales figures. The three giants of the passenger car market, SAIC Volkswagen, FAW-Volkswagen and SAIC General Motors, have maintained their positions. The ranking is still firmly in the top three.

SAIC Volkswagen's September sales were 218.6600 units, an increase of 22.39% year-on-year; FAW-Volkswagen sales were 198,500 units (including Audi's imported vehicles), up 6% year-on-year; SAIC-GM sales were 186,700 units, an increase of 7.86% year-on-year.

Prior to the above three joint ventures, only FAW-Volkswagen publicly announced its 2017 sales target of 1.96 million units. From January to September this year, cumulative sales of FAW-Volkswagen were 1,396,600 units (including imported Audi vehicles), a slight increase of 2.3% year-on-year. . FAW-Volkswagen completed 71.26% of its annual sales target in the first three quarters.

Although SAIC-Volkswagen and SAIC-GM did not publish sales targets, they found that SAIC Motor’s sales in the first nine months of this year reached 1,472,600, which is equivalent to 73.64% of the total sales of the previous year; From January to September, the sales volume was 1,361,100 units. The sales volume reached 1.88 million units throughout the year. The sales performance in the first nine months of this year was only 72.45% of the previous year.

Taking into account the overall growth of the auto market, the sales target of SAIC-VW and SAIC GM also increased compared to last year. Therefore, in fact, SAIC-VW and SAIC-GM's sales completed in the first three quarters was also around 70%.

The difference between the independent brand ice fire

In the sales ranking of the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers, there are only three independent brands in the top ten, namely, Geely Automobile, Changan Automobile and Great Wall Motor.

Geely Automobile has been making great strides since the beginning of the year, and its sales volume has seen a significant year-on-year growth for several months in a row. From January to September this year, Geely Automobile's total sales reached 827,100 units, a year-on-year increase of nearly 80%, based on the 1 million sales set at the beginning of the year. The target calculation has completed 82% of the annual tasks. However, in the middle of the year, Geely Automobile increased its sales target to 1.1 million vehicles. Even so, Geely Automobile's current performance has completed 75% of its mission.

Changan brand passenger car sales in September was 103,505 units, an increase of 35%. In the first few months, Changan Automobile was caught in a sales dilemma. Despite the abundant SUV products, its sales did not remain strong. Therefore, in the middle of this year, Changan launched an official sales promotion model, which led to rapid sales growth in the third quarter. Chang'an's sales target for this year is 1.79 million units. In the first half of the year, the quota was only 43%. The sales volume in the first three quarters fell compared with the same period of last year. The completion of sales targets is not optimistic.

Great Wall Motor sold 102,000 units in September, an increase of 4.46% year-on-year. Accumulative sales in the January-September period were 706,000 units, a slight increase of 2.25% year-on-year. Although Great Wall Motors performed well, the sales target set at the beginning of the year was as high as 1.25 million. At present, this task has only completed 56.48%.

Japanese and Korean brands grow together

In September, Korean brands showed a significant recovery. Beijing Hyundai Motor Co., Ltd. and Dongfeng Yueda Kia Motors Co., Ltd. all witnessed a significant increase from the previous month. The former sales reached 85,000 units in September, a growth of more than 60% from the previous month, while the latter sold only 40,000 vehicles. Relative to the August data, there have been more than 70% growth.

In the first three quarters of this year, Beijing Hyundai’s cumulative sales have reached 501,100 units, a significant gap from the sales target of 1.25 million units proposed at the beginning of the year, and only 40% has been completed.

The Japanese brands that had been caught in the market due to sales difficulties in the Korean brand still had a strong performance in September this year. Nissan’s Nissan and Qi Chen’s two major brands sold 102,900 units in September, a year-on-year increase of 30%. In the first three quarters, they sold a total of 772,000 units, a year-on-year increase of 11.4%. This achievement accounted for 71.48% of the annual sales target of 1.08 million.

In September, the Dongfeng brand's terminal sales exceeded 74,000 units, an increase of 29.3% year-on-year. From January to September this year, the sales of Dongfeng Honda Terminal have sold 517,000 units, a substantial increase of 27.3% compared with the same period of last year. Dongfeng Honda's sales target for this year is 650,000, and it has already completed 80% of the target. Therefore, Dongfeng Honda decided to challenge the sales target of 680,000 vehicles throughout the year.
